White Pines Model Railroad Club?

Anyone here know if the White Pines Model Railroad Club of Bensonville, IL,
is still in existence? I would appreciate an address if they are still in
business. All information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I posted the same question a few months back and was emailed by someone
who thought that they had moved back to Elmhurst and changed their name
back to what they used in Elmhurst. Looking in my copy of MR there are
two listings for clubs in Elmhurst:

Elmhurst Model Railroad Club
111 E. First St.
Contact Dan Hollis 630-833-7452

Salt Creek Model Railroad Club
107 E. First St.
Contact Gerald Doran 630-627-3217

I remember years back when they were in Elmhurst that they had layouts
in HO, N, and Z, and I think each scale had it's own sub group in the
club. Since the addresses for both clubs seem to be next door to each
other it might be that they are the same club split in two.

If you have any luck contacting them please post your findings here.
I'm interested in what happened to them also.

The club is no longer in existence, however the members have reformed as the
Elmhurst Model Railroad Club. They are open on Fridays and Sundays at the
times listed below. There is also another club two doors down from them, the
Salt Creek Model Railroad Club, and they are only open to visitors on
Friday.

The clubs brochure says "by the spring of 1986, it became apparent that we
could no longer remain in Bensenville due to financial considerations."
They secured the new Elmhurst location in June 1986. They're next to the UP
tracks in downtown Elmhurst, just east of York St.

Last Friday night I went to Elmhurst and visited both the Elmhurst Model
Railroad Club and the Salt Creek Society of Model Engineers. The layouts
are located right next to each other just north of the tracks. Both
layouts are superb and were fun to visit and see. I asked one of the
Elmhurst members if they were indeed the old White Pines club, to which
he replied yes. I also asked if any of the present layout was part of
the old WPMRRC layout. The response was that all of the benchwork was
reused, and some of the scenery and track. If one is in the area both
clubs are a must see IMHO.

Some of the SCSME folks even invited me to go out for a bite to eat with
them after they closed up the layouts. I went and had a great time. They
are truly a great bunch of people and model railroaders.

The best way to sell this stuff is to do some research. Google is your
friend. I found this in 20 seconds, most of it spent typing:

Whatever it is, it's not OO. It's either O gauge or Standard gauge.
Check the luggage (distance between the running rails). If it's 1-1/4"
it's O gauge. If it's larger, it's Standard Gauge.

Some of the material looks to be in reasonable shape, the rest is not
quite junk. My limited knowledge of classic toy trains indicates that
it's pre-1940, so even items in bad shape could still yiled parts ort
could be "restored".
