I just put Digitrax decoders in two GP7s using the Aztec frames. There
is no room for a light in the long hood, where the decoder goes. I model
SP&S and they ran long hood forward. I know GN and NP did as well, as I
suppose did a number of roads. While you can put the body on "backwards",
the fuel tank will not be proper, since the air tanks will be on the
wrong end of the tank. Anyone else in this boat? I sent an email to
Digitrax telling them of the problem and suggesting they contact AZtec
and have some frames machines for decoders in the short hood end. One of
the two doesn't need to be fixed. I put air tanks on one and extended
the fuel tank. On this one, simply reversing the shell works, since the
air tanks are on the shell. But, many roads did not modify their geeps
this way.

Greetings-

Haven't "talked" since our discussion about Ernie Giese.

John Claudino (Aztec) has moved from San Mateo to Carson City, NV.
His phone number there is (702) 883-3327. Might want to give him a
holler to discuss this. If you do, please feel free to mention my
name since we go back a way.

Hi Carl,

I will contact Aztec as well to see what can be done. Please give
my best to Ernie Giese. I always get comments about the F7s he did for
me and they were the first to get decoders. I plan to have him do a
couple more locos when I can afford it - my divorce lawyer (ugh) gets
most of my spare money right now.

Cheers,

John

You could use a Lenz decoder, which is in two smaller parts...
