I will be traveling to Indianapolis next week
and I was curios if there are any good/well stocked
hobby shops out there. I am mainly interested
in HO scale. Any info appreciated.

Take the time to drive up to Lafayette (60 miles NW on I65) to Hawkins
Rail Services (9th & Main; 317-742-5577). Jack Hawkins has the best HO
stock east of Denver's Caboose Hobbies and south of Des Plaines Hobbies,
or he can get it if it exists. Reasonable supply of N & O also. My$.02

Just a nit, but this is actually on the WEST side of the city

My choices would be Bill's MR Warehouse and Tom Metzler for selection.
Varry trains is a small shop with friendly and knowledgeable owner, but
limited selection, IMO.

Just got back, thanks to all who responded. I was somewhat limited
in time so I was able only to go to Varry Trains, Big Boy Hobbies, and
Hawkins Rail Services (60 NW of Indy in Lafayette, out I-65, located
at 9th and Main. Varry trains was good and the owner was very helpful.
Big Boy was ok. Originally, I was not going to drive the Hawkins, but
I had an Email that sugested it and when the owner of Varry trains suggested
it I decided it was worth the trip. The Hawkins store seems full of every-
thing. I had to get out of there before I blew my hobby budget for the
year. Wish I would have had more time to visit the other shops. I was able
to get everything I was looking for and more.
