[Before I spend any time venturing into this ecosystem, downloading any
software, or acquiring any books, I just want a straightforward
description of what one can _and can't_ do (as of the present moment)
when reading or manipulating the book files on a Mac; what are the
limits on moving the files between machines, duplicating them, or
sharing or loaning them; and so on the kind of stuff you have to
fight to dig out of the sales pitches on amazon.]
Thanks in advance . . .
"Vade mecum"? Seriously? This is Usenet! I had to look it up.
I think this is what you are looking for:
<http://kindle.s3.amazonaws.com/Kindle_User%27s_Guide_English.pdf>
First link obtained from a Google search on "kindle manual".
Or maybe the 3rd link is better (4th Edition):
%20English.pdf>

Handy idiom nonetheless -- used to be widely used for a particularly
useful variety of travel book.

Thanks -- but unfortunately illustrates why I was asking about a guide
to "reading Kindle books on the Mac" -- and also why I didn't just go to
Google myself.
I don't plan to buy a Kindle (already put the $$ into an Air). And when
I look into this User's Guide, which presumably would have been the
first Google hit for me also, and do a quick full text search through
it, I discover it has zero information on reading Kindle books on
anything but Kindles (total of two hits on the word Macintosh), and
essentially zero information on Kindle loaning or sharing policies.
Still looking . . .
