Exclusive August 5th:
"Rickson Gracie will be fighting later this year in Japan.
Graciefighter.com has learned that a deal is in the advanced stages
and although we know who his opponent is, we would rather the
announcement be made by the sanctioned organization. -GF "
Well....who is it going to be? Anyone know?
Could it be....Sak? Well, that would be a gift from heaven, now
wouldn't it :-)
Somehow I doubt it though. Rickson knows he'd get creamed by Sak, just
like his brothers and cousins. He's probably fighting some B-guy just
to make some cash.
you have caught the correct.
Rickson is fighting Ogawa. Ogawa does have legit judo credentials, being an
Olympic Medalist. However, he also has only done worked fights in MMA, and does
some pro wrestling IIRC.
I expect this to be very similar to Takada vs. Rickson. Ogawa has never shown
any real indications that he wants to do real MMA fights.

The smart money is on Ogawa. Rickson won't fight a real fighter.

btw, I am saying that Ogawa doesn't have the heart to be a good fighter- not
that Rickson vs. Takada was a work.
Inoki is selling Nippon TV a Rickson/Ogawa main event for his next
pseudoshoot show.

It's the year for the Gracies to be taking on Judo medallists, eh?
First Royce v. Hidehiko, now this.
Sak would win, though, or he would dominate in a draw. Rickson just
doesn't have his athleticism, or his stand up skills, besides which
he's getting old now.
Sak has challenged Rickson though, hasn't he?

Ben Spijkers vs Renzo happened decades after Kimura-Helio.

He isn't.

Agreed...world class judoka, but how has he done in MMA? His
competition hasn't been of the highest caliber by any means.

He was a silvar medalist in 92.He is MUCH bigger than Rickson.
He has had plenty of worked fights. But his fight with goodridge MAY not have
been.I am not sure.Gary hit him VERY hard, and ogawa was very nearly knocked
out... but in japan it is done in works, so im not sure.
But those that say ogawa has done only works are pretending to know.
They dont.
His fight with satake looked legit.
I dont know either.
