Mario Napoli is a Liar
Mike Sigman
named Mario Napoli. Mario Napoli claims to do the CMC style and is a friend
of Don Miller's. The ONLY time I personally watched or met Napoli was at
ATOC some years ago and he was pointed out as a beginner who was being
coached by Don Miller and that Napoli's background was as a soccer player.
After watching in horror at what this beginner thought was push hands, he
ultimately worked his way to me and asked if I wanted to push hands. I told
him he didn't do push hands. We never touched hands or anything resembling
what he has said below. As far as I can tell he is psycho. It is
*possible* that he mixed things up in his mind, but I don't think so... I
think he makes up life as he goes along.
The person who forwarded me the message included a note to the fact that
Mario is a complete egomaniac who has been muscularly shoving other CMC
stylists around and who "wins in tournament wrestling calling it push hands"
and that even other CMC practitioners are embarrassed that he uses Professor
Cheng's name to support the crap that he does.
I invite him to defend what he has said below on this list. I doubt that he
is man enough to do it and I certainly doubt that he is man enough to
apologize for any of his misstatements.
I also would like to hear more about why he thinks he is an expert on Taiji.
As far as I know, almost everyone who knows him considers him a goon with an
attitude who is an embarrassment to Taiji. The only positive thing I ever
heard was "well, he's trying to get better".
It's my bet that someone like Mario is better at character assassination
than he is in intelligent debate.

Yes, and the fact that people like Mario and their wrestling could "win"
using muscle and technique was the final nail in the coffin and tournaments
totally lost their credibility after that.

anonymous and can't be checked- it's pretty obvious that Napoli is, and

group- presently, they're looking at very expensive litigation over the
racial slurs and religious defamation, so they're getting their last
licks in. The papers are almost ready for service to them and filing in
Federal Court. I can guarantee them some weeping, wailing and gnashing
of teeth-
I don't notice 'Captain Lethargy' posting on much of anything else. When
Miller's people say something, he's quiet- when those postings are
answered with facts, he starts whining about 'can't we all just get

When I and a number of others first saw people like Don Miller get into the
tournament scene, we were sort of horrified. Basically the we thought the
worst-case scenario was happening. Miller and some others took the route of

Most CMC'ers are too embarrassed to talk about this monster that has been
created by the fact that too many people have been too shy to speak out and
protest that he is ruining the CMC name. Too bad... they brought this on
themselves.
Sure, Mario has some defenders, but there are always people in every style
who can't do Taiji and think that "winning competitive push hands" is some
sort of positive thing. However, a lot of these people are really into it
for the self-promotion and ego side of it. Look at people like Lee Scheele,
who openly supports Mario... Lee is a big 260-pound walking emotional case
who is always looking for recognition. In fact, Lee Scheele is so keen on
shoving people around, including fairly weak women, that I have gotten some
interesting emails about his habits. These are the kinds of people that
support Mario Napoli.
So where did he learn his push hands? He says that push hands and judo are
the same thing. He's worked all of this out for himself. He's a genius,
it seems.
I want to know about his push hands, too... but he doesn't seem to want to
answer. He just wants to "get it on" like that will answer things. So
let's see him "get it on" with John Carlo and see what it proves about his
push hands... then maybe Mario will be willing to get back to a sensible
discussion.

I can't see any evidence that 'Sifu' *could* lower himself any further.
In fact, I don't see any evidence that his credibility could be any
lower; his reputation certainly couldn't be much lower; his prospects
are looking lower all the time, and he probably couldn't get much lower
in his choice of champions and supporters.

What is the point of this statement? The question was posed: What is
Jin in your understanding, and your answer has nothing to do with the

By all accounts it's a failure.
This reminds me of what I feel Jing and Taiji Jings to be all about.
If you can picture a rotating yin and yang, and anogther rotating yin
and yang, but maybe one of them is not rotating as smoothly as the
other one. Well in that case, in a global sense, one of them is a yin
and yang and the other one is not. So if I were to push hands with
someone who was better than I, they might be able to pull out my
muscles one by one even though I didn't think I was using any of them,
because in a grand equalizing kind of sense he is better than me. But
if I used my "jings" on someone who didn't know taijiquan and only a
stiff man using karate for example, then it should be trivial easy for
me to uproot someone using lu and/or cai in push hands.
The key I guess really is to invest in loss. After all it's not about
winning, so what do you think it is about, then?

problems and all the new taichi experts back in 94', I thought maybe the
problem was being overrated by you and others.
