Dear Colleagues,

It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the passing, yesterday, of
my
longtime student, friend, and colleague, Sanford Blatt, in Pittsburgh,
Pa.
Sandy and I knew each other for about the last quarter century. He was
already a black bet when I met him, but an accident had made him
quadriplegic at the height of his youthful practice. Diligent and
persevering, with a spirit that could not be kept down, Sandy faced his
new
difficulties with great courage. He got right back into teaching and
learning, doing both from a wheel chair. At first he assisted me in
teaching
classes. Old photos show him sitting with me as part of a panel judging
the
test of a new black belt. Later, he headed up his own dojo, with the
able
assistance of dedicated senior students. Even farther down the road, he
served as the leader and spiritual father for a group of dojo in
southwestern Pennsylvania. I saw him not long ago and have never failed
to
be impressed by his conscientiousness, his good-heartedness, his
consideration, and his complete dedication to martial arts and to
raising
good students. He suffered a sudden heart attack and passed away
quickly, in
the company of his family, without a lot of suffering. I consider it a
great
honor and privilege to have known a man like him. They are few and far
between. I will feel his loss and remember his example all my life.

with respect

Jim--It is always a shame to hear of the passing of another martial artist,
another human being. For myself, the students, and the staff of the
Bushidokan Dojo , we would like to extend our heart felt condolances. I'm
sure you will miss your friend dearly, and I'm also sure that he WILL be
watching over you and yours. Once again--our sympathies to you sir.---Jules

"Sudden cardiac death" takes another martial artist... Who's next...?

There is a reason for this pattern.

have a 15 day nightmare and crosslinks your neural pathways."

Even though we were not lucky enough to have met this man, all the
Instructors and students at Brian Anyos Dynamics and as well as the staff of
www.fighttime.com would like to pass our condolences, to the family and
friends of Mr Sandy Blatt. It is far too difficult to understand why we lose
those who are great, so, instead, lets remember them with pride.
