Hasn't the MAC ceased to exist in any
practical capacity?

Mark.

The MAC hasn't existed at all for a couple of years. Richard Thomas did keep
it running for a while after it lost it's status as being the only UK MA
governing body recognised by the Sports Council, but it eventually collapsed.
He replaced it with MADA (Martial Arts Development Agency ) but I'm not sure
of the current status of that.

IMHO, the new EKGB (English Karate Governing Body) is worse than the MAC ever
was...

What has now happened is that MAC, and MADA, which were a single body representing all MA's to the sports council, have been replaced by individual governing bodies for each art.
THis (should) make for greater funding coming our way.... *hope*

The governing body for Aikido now is the british Aikdo board, which apart from being almost totally useless in any practical sense, is populated by a lot of very nice ppl. :
