Shudokan was developed by Master Sam Brock in 1963 after returning from
Tachikan, Japan where he studied the Okinawan Art of Suri-estu Karate.
Tranlated Shudokan means 'headquarters' or 'source of knowledge'.
Shudokan is structured for street fighting. It is not a tournament type
art like Tae Kwon Do. Testing for upper ranks are done out in a swampy marsh
where conditions are not optimum.

Shudokan's linearage is as follows:

Kanken Toyama founded Shudokan Karate. Upon his death the name of the
system was changed to Doshinkan as stated in my previous post. Toyama
appointed Walter Todd (Oakland, Ca) Superintendent (Shihan) of Shudokan
in the U.S. After Toyama's death, his son approved Walter Todd's rank of
8th dan.

Any other usuage of the term Shudokan is a misappropriation of a system
already in existence. Any accredation of foundership other than Toyama
is pure nonsense.

I have no interest in Karate whatsoever. However, I do have an interest
in intellectual honesty as well as respect for Walter Todd who has studied
Aikido under Kenji Tomiki, Koichi Tohei and Yoko Takahasi; Judo (Walter
is/was 7th Dan) under Ichiro Abe and Kyuzo Mifune; Karate under Hironishi
Otsuka (founder of Wado-Ryu, Walter was the 1st foreign student), Isao
Obata of Shotokan (Walter was the 1st foreigner to have the rank of 1st
Dan signed by Gichin Funagoshi, and also with Yoko Takahashiof of
Shudokan Karate. (Walt's 2nd Dan in Aikido was approved by O Sensei
Uyeshiba). In Judo, Walt has also studied with Sumiyuki Kotani, Shuichi
Nagaoka, Kiichiro Samura, Kazuo Ito and Tadao Otaki.

These are the facts. I do not know what the attached really is,
but it certainly is a misappropriation of the term Shudokan.
