Thanks,

Maybe it's a variation of Hoshinsool - the generic Korean term for self-
defense. Literally translated Ho Shin Do means "way of self-defense". If
it is a style name, it is probably something made up recently.

Ho Shin Do as described to me is a hybred of Tai kwan Do and hapkido. It is a
korean art simlar IMO to jeet kune do as it incorporates upright fighting and
grappling. The style is very efficient and similar almost to kick boxing
with the emphesis on boxing. It has belts similar to most forms of karate. I
study at the Tommy Cho Martial arts academy in Roswell, GA. My 5 yr old
son studies the same art but at a diffrent school in Powder Springs, GA.

Hello Richard H Kim...
Is this just a nick name or are you the same person that was Blackbelt
magazines Instructor of the Year in 1972. The head of the Butokai (sp?).
If so I would be interested in chatting with you.
Dale
Well, there may be some confusion regarding these words. However, I know that
there is a school in the Atlanta area that claims to teach Ho Shin Do. I
wonder what they actually teach.

Nope, my name is Richard Henry Kim and I was born before that article. I
usually post under weedhopper, but I changed for some reason I can't remember
why.
Duh!!
Read my posting. They teach HO SHIN DO. Why is this so difficult
to understand. There are four schools in the Atlanta area. The
Tommy Cho Martial arts academy probably being the best and most
well known of the four. The originator of the art is Korean and
to the best of my knowledege started the arts in korea then open
schools in the states. Many of the student at my school are
Korean.

I'm not sure about all that stuff about Master Choi. What I do know is that
Ho Shin Do is a "hard" style. Much like kickboxing and TKD but with no
locking out(after punches and kickes.ie Shotokan). I beilieve
that Choi Kwang Do is supposed to be softer and "non-jarring" low impact
and all that stuff.
