>Umm..yeap, I was just curious about that move, whee a guy puts the fingers in the opponents eye...umm..in the movies , that is only supposed to blind the person..well, im not much into anatomy..but..doesnt that goes all the wway to the brain, and kills..?
My guess is that the eye either detaches first, or collapses within
itself since the eyeball is mostly oozing liquid. When a boxer gets
thumbed, the consequence is a detached retina. When I got thumbed,
the consequence was bloodshot eyes and a pretty beat up little
brother... :>)

Why would you want to poke someone in the eye?
Ian and Adrian
Why would you want to kick, punch, strangle, or joint lock someone?
Answer: Only a psychopath wants to; sometimes though, one has to.

I'm not saying that you're wrong (you're probably right), but "easy to
do" and "possible" are two different things. I saw a guy on David
Letterman snort milk up his nose and squirt it out his tear ducts. Given
the fact that most kids have access to milk at the age when they like to
gross people out it should be common to see kinds gleeking milk out their
eye sockets according to the above logic, but to date I've only witnessed
this one instance of elactulation :)

: I've heard [and don't laugh if this is completely stupid since I'm not a
: physician or forensic specialist -- I'm just relating something I heard]
: that if done correctly, it is possible to stick the fingers inside the eye
: sockets (between the eyeball and the skull) of an opponent and pull the
: eyeballs out from behind.
I picked this one up from my Catholic Dogma teacher back in high school
(he was from South Philly). The way he said to do it is as follows:
(assuming you're gouging with your right thumb) Take your right thumb
and gouge it into your opponent's left eye socket, underneath the eye
and toward the outside. Drive it straight in up to the knuckle, then
hook your thumb in toward the bridge of your opponent's nose, causing
the eyeball to pop free. To date, I haven't had occasion to use this,
but it sounds plausible enough.

The reason kids don't pull their eyes out of their sockets, smart guy, is
because it's extremely painful! The eye is attached to the inside of its
socket by the set of muscles that rotate it, as well as the optic nerve,
and also must be deformed a bit to squeeze it out of the socket. Once it
comes out, it's not going back in very easily, and even if some function
is regained, the eye will never again function like it did before being
ousted.
That said, it's fairly easy to remove someone *else's* eye from the
socket. A favored method of settling disputes between men in the
American South from before the Revolution into the antebellum period was
otherwise known as "gouging:" no-holds-barred fistfights in which a
primary goal was to take an opponent's eye, as well as biting off
whatever facial features came within reach, castration, etc. Mike Fink
and Daniel Boone, among others, were champion gougers. References are
available upon request--email, please.
