Okay, what is dousing? And its benefits?

"Cold Water Dousing."

Pouring cold water over your head and body, cold water dips and baths, etc.

Many Traditions from multiple cultures hold that cold water dousing or
bathing promotes health.

Several studies (many posted here to RMA - you should be able to find
them in the google archives), and lots of anecdotal evidence, supports the
contention that cold water dousing helps reduce the incidence of minor
colds and helps reduce the length of recovery time. There's also some
good evidence support it for assisted recovery from general heavy exercise.

There are several different methods but it looks like all roads lead to
Rome. Personally, I fill up three buckets with water as cold as I can get
it. Then I dump each bucket over my head. I usually do this once a day
immediately after my hot shower in the morning. When members of my family
are ill or there's some sort of "crud" going around at work I'll up the
number of times I douse to 2 or 3; adding Evenings and/or afternoons.

Seems to work for me.

Peace favor your sword (IH),
Kirk

It's sort of having a "Furry Fetish" only you have to use cold
water...or something.

Certainly not more than every Saturday nite though.

Makes it easier to tuck your pee pee inside a pair of your wifes
french cut panties?

Oh - and also this:

I douse a minimum of once daily - usually after my hot shower. Since my
son and wife came down with a cold this week I've been dousing more.

I'd do it if I had someone to get the water for me.

Otherwise, too much trouble...where'm I gonna keep the buckets? Hell,
I don't have that many buckets anyway.

A cold water resevoir above the shower would work, right? But, what's
the diff if you just throw the knob over to all cold? During the
wintertime, the water coming off the line is virtually at freezing.

I keep my buckets in the shower when I'm not using them. Close the shower
door. All tidey.

Yup. Some people do that. Personally I don't like it as well as the
buckets. It just "feels" different to me. <shrug>

Bathing once daily instead of just on Satruday nite. How disgusting - you
must smell really funny.

Usually like soap and deodorant. Sometimes I'll wear a cologne that my
wife particularly likes.

One of my favorite "bathing" recommendations comes from the Farmer Burns
lessons. It's funny.

Yeah, but so does anal vs. vaginal sex, but it's still something you
should hammer away at until you get right.

Bathing
Do not neglect to bath regularly after exercising. To those who have
been educated to take cold baths only, I wish to say that you are wrong.
Cold baths along are harmful because they cause the pores of the skin to
contract and make it impossible to become thoroughly clean.

At least half the bath should be in tepid water, or water from which the
chill has been removed. Cold water closes the pores. Tepid water opens
the pores and allows the impurities and waste matter to come out and be
washed away. I am not in favor of the daily COLD bath, especially for
persons not robust and very strong, and I doubt the value of the very
cold bath at any time for anyone.

I love the part about impurities and waste matter.
