What is the legal limit for blade length on a fixed blade knife to carry
in NY state? Is it legal at all. I searched on a law site and the NY laws
I found just have vague terms like "dangerous knife"
I'm thinking of something around 3-4inches in a belt sheath if it's legal.
Thanks for ant info.

There is NO actual length limit in NY Penal law (other than NYC which has a 4"
limit, fixed or folder).

I have tried in vain to get an actual ruling on the length and no one has been
able to come up with an answer. As near as I can tell from the research I have
done, the limit outside of NYC is determined by local ordinance.

Best bet is to check with the local DA's office (more than likely, they will be
guesing at an answer). Also remember that anything that "looks" like a weapon
can be considered on in NY law.

And if anyone has an answer, please contact me.
