I have a collection of old and oddball swords that I would like to
have given a good edge, not one of those grind and go types,
can any body give me a good source ?

One piece of advice.

Which country are you in?

I would recommend learning to do it yourself.

A couple of questions you must consider.

1) What are you going to hit with the swords?
2) What angle do you want the swords sharpened?
3) How often do you want the swords sharpened?

I think it's very important to know the answers to these questions, as
it will help the sharpener to give you the best performance edge.

Out of curiosity (after you have open the door :-) what is the optimum
angle for a sword to be used in battle where the gentry have mail and
the peasants leather and padded cloth?

Cheers,

John Fitzen at Razor's Edge in Utah, he'll hook
you up.

Plenty of youtube vids on his shop and knives.
