I haven't seen the movie yet but the kite was made by famed miniature
cellular kite maker Tom McAlister of Richmond, CA.

But seriously, folks, I did build a cody like kite which was used as a
basis for the scene. I just saw the movie myself and it was a rush to see
my work on the big screen.
If you are interested in small cellular kites I will be doing workshops
this year's AKA convention as well as at Junction & Fort Warden in 1996.
See ya there.

P.S. Did anyone enjoy the Berkeley Kite Festival? Where are the posts on
Berkeley? I'm not just fishing for compliments; I really want feedback
for next year.--

Wow you must be my twin!! I was the only one in the theater to say the
same thing when I saw that ol Cody pop out.
Roger Corman is on of my fav directors...Did you ever see Jack Nicholson
in his first film -Roger's version of the Little Shop of Horrors?
RE cost of film: Forget it. With all those Cody merchandising options
Costner will make a fortune

YEA!!! That was probly one of the best parts of the film. I think
that most of that sceen was done with stop motion computer annimation (at
least that's the way it looked to me). I loved the way it was deployed
from his boat....now that was a cool idea. That boat was just plain cool.
It must have taken several FX guys and and a coupla engeneers to
desgin that sucker. {er, make that engineers} I also liked the way the
sails were deployed.
Aaron.

The movie is not bad, neither is is great. I understand the script was
originally written for B Movie king Roger Corman. He could have done as
good a job, for less than a tenth of the cost. OH Well, at least there
