Looking for feedback on Skyburner Heat esp. backspin capability. I
fly a Gemini and still struggle with the backspin. Maybe if I try a
diff. kite I can pick the trick up consistently. I am looking at the
model framed in 3PT. Bob

I cannot give you any info on the Skyburner Heat, but the HQ Maestrale (new)
is a kite that backspins with ease.

I've flown the Heat a number of times, and it's a really nice kite - very
precise, good trick capability, but its not a backspin machine. Definitely
not a pull-and-go kite.

If you're having trouble backspinning the Gem, there may be issues in your
technique you need to address. There aren't many kites out there (no kites
I know of) that backspin easier than the Gem. The Heat definitely would not
make it easier for you to learn the trick IMHO.

Hi Bob,

the only kite that I've flown, that seems to do the backspin more easy
than the Gemini is the Area 51 by Mullin Kites (GB). But also with the
Gemini this trick should be very simple. Just practice, practice,
practice - and don't forget to give LOTS (!) of slack.

Ciao!

Hi Bob,

The Heat HP is a wonderful kite, but at least in my experience, the 3PT
version lacked a little 'heft', making momentum-based tricks difficult.

If you're looking for a Sky Burner kite that will backspin easily, look
no further than the 'Wahoo'.

The Heat is quite precise. The Wahoo, on the other hand, has oversteer
in spades. ;->

If you are looking for a kite that backspins the Heat is not the kite for
you. I have gotten my 5PT version to go, but it doens't really like it
and is very hit and miss. I haven't gotten the 3PT to go at all.

The only kite I can think of that backspins maybe slightly easier than
the Gem is the Wahoo. That kite is a backspin machine too.

See ya,

I agree with Bill,
If you are looking for a Skyburner kite that will trick easily, especially
on the backspin, the Wahoo is the one for you. IT was the kite that
actually taught me how to backspin the Gemini. THe wahoo has less resistance
thus doesn't take as much pull to begin spinning, plus it will backspin in a
higher wind range. At least it does for me. It's a wonderful kite that is
loaded with overspin. It's durable, and has a wide wind range; I've flown
it from 3mph to 22 mph. It doesn't like being on it's back though and lazy
susans are very difficult- near impossible for me. But it loves to rotate-
be it an axel or backspin. Double axels, 900's, double slot machines.
