just got a call from a customer looking for several "biodegradable" kites.
Does such a creature exist?

I was just browsing severial kite shops last night looking for the a really
big kite bag and see a site that had paper kites. Problem is I can't remember
what site I see them at. paper and wood would eventually break down. I think
that Forever Flying has Indian fighter kites made of rice paper and bamboo.

Some of Charlie Sotich's miniatures may be biodegradable, but I'm not sure
about the spars. ;o)

Tissue paper and wood sticks, cotton string, it'll biodegrade over time.

Or just leave your ripstop out in the sun too long..... ^_^

In many places round the world, they make kites from woven leaves.

Working out how to design and build one from materials locally
available is left as an excersise for the reader...

Fighter Kites !! Paper, string and bamboo will biodegrade eventually.
And Cheap !! Can't beat the price on fun/cost.

Chinese figure kites !! Silk and bamboo take care of themselves too.
The colors and shapes are a huge value for the money spent. A large
dragon hung in a cathedral ceiling (or on the field in the wind) would
be a literal eye-popper.

Ken Conrad used to carry a lot of Chinese kites when Great Winds was in
business (fighters too). He may be able to help you out with it

seems this customer was seeking a kite that she heard of through someone or
someplace else.... it was marketed as "biodegradable".

I should have asked more questions.

The kite may be, but I bet the bridle isn't! Never heard of anything that
way in this country (UK) but would like to hear of any myself, Thanks.
