Hi there,

i think this question has been asked lotsa times before but i was just lazy and
didn`t search on dejanews (yet)..... ;)

a friend of ours wants to start flying kites with a reasonable good kite, with
a budget around $100 or so..... what would you guys recommend?

I have in mind the FlashBack, Alpha Plus, or one of Dodd Gross beginner
kites..... and oh yeah, they have to be complete, so with lines and straps.....

Any suggestions very welcome! Kite has to be durable, wide windrange, and easy
to setup and fly.....

thanX!

I bought the Prism Flashback as a beginner's delta style kite and have been
rather pleased with the results. I had previous experience controlling a
dual line parafoil in the past, so I could keep it up in the air easily
without too many crashes . . . but this is a strong kite aimed at the
beginner who will ditch it a lot. I believe it came with lines and straps
too . . .

I will learn control, stability and some tricks on this kite before
investing bigger $$$ in something better . . .

I have not tried it myself yet, but I order up the ticket from Cavaliers du
Ciel.(ordered it from a online vendor)(also dist by aviasport.net).(wind
range 2-20) I found it very hard to find comprehensive kite reviews. I kept
working my way up the kite price until I reached something like the Prism
Fanatic. Then I decide no just get a entry level kite. I also picked up a
beetle to replace one my wife had lost. Hard to beat that wind range if you
willing to get the highwind upgrade kit. Though I think some would prefer a
larger kite.

While I did not order from this vendor due to the "internet person" being
out of towne. They do at least have mini review of the kites they carry.
They rank them on a scale of I think 1-10(maybe only 9)(in many areas) so
you might be able to compare a little between kites. I decided I wanted to
save as much as possible while getting a decent kite. This saves money for
the second kite should I like the "sport".

Hi there!

Already thanks for the replies! I`m gonna look up some more information on
beginner kites, and then make a choice. Problem is that we don`t have a (good)
kitestore here, so i`ll have to order online. Am i best off just ordering from
GWTW, where i hear so many positive things about?

Thanx!

I've have ordered kites from Kiteconnection over the internet and have had
no problems, in fact I would recommend it highly. There is a very good
selection of kites and the prices are some of the best you will find. You
might want to look at the special deals on Level One Easy and Easy-Lites,
they also carry the Ticket which is an excellent beginner level kite.

Give Kiteconnection a try, you won't be sorry.

Later.......

I wanted to give kite connection I try sent an email or two asking about
getting a kite by a certain date no responce. Called on the phone and no one
was arround to discuss the issue. Of course they have been remodeling and
maybe some key people are on vacation so I would not hold it against them. I
just had to order somewhere else becuase I ran out of time.

I may be a little biased, but...you won't find better prices AND service
than you get at GWTW.

Hey Wildchild Two,
I've done alot of business with Dave at Kite Connections and I got a Ticket
from him. The price and service from Dave keeps me going back. The shop
opened back up last weekend after some renovations. The Ticket is a sweet
kite and it comes with good lines and straps, at a very good price.

Best winds
Bill
