I'm flying a WindDance 1 on 100 lb Spectra line at about 70 - 80 feet.
This is my only kite and due to lack of wind I'm out of luck too many days
of the year.
I was wondering if lighter line will give me better low wind performance,
and what line to use?
More time than $ is not all that bad for a kiter.
But I seem to be developing a serious lust for an Ozone.
Sigh.

I have the winddance 1 and 2. I have talked to people that fly with
75 and 50 lb line. The line that I buy is made by Western Fillament.
Dan at Seattle air gear is the one who recommended that line to me. I
have been really happy with it.

If the wind is pretty light why not try going even lighter than 50????
You have nothing to loose but a little money. ($10)

Hi.

Not only will lighter line help you fly in lighter winds, but also
shorter lines will help.

It's not so much the weight of the lines, but the drag the lines have as
they go through the air. Having lighter lines will reduce the amount of
surface area being pulled around by the kite and also shorter lines will
have the same effect. Put the two together and your kite should be able
to fly in much lighter winds, of course a lighter kite would help also.

Whatever,

Chris.

I agree with you Chris, lighter - shorter lines will really help. But you
still have to work to keep it flying. Personally, I would follow the lusty
feeling, and have. We have a couple of the Ozone's and fly them in the gym
every Saturday.

L> Ya! I have a "Spud" and his big bros also ! Yes you can fly Windance #1
with
65 ft -70 ft -use the handles! It do make a difference-if you need info on
how write me
I recently got on the "Soft" bandwagon and I really like them-they can't
axle. 540 or much ,but when Tuned right they can make any shape in the sky!
As far as low wind
I use what they say pull to fly-- step back I can work a whole field and
work my way back using the methods taught in the video. If you are in a 2
mph where you can just feel air --it will fly and ya do many of the
thngs -just alittle slower AND that bridle ajustment is a precise
measurement. You should be able to pull it off the ground , once at this
point
easyly pump the #1 and learn that pulling on this Kite is what makes it go-!
Use 65 -70 lb Spectra or Laser Pro Spectra anything light and strong -I do
this all the time -the beauty is that once you find that "Sweet" spot on the
ajustment -lock it there
as it will stick with up to 10 mph steady mph is great! They also have some
Handles now at Air_Gear. Hey I use (Chancy) 60 lb line on the # 3
Windance slow and really
a smile maker. Big Wind -- watch gust and do not use the mentioned light
over 9 mph
How long have you had your WD #1? ( I call it "The Spud" ) whatscool about
a soft kite on light line is you can colapse this little kite let it drop
almost to the ground and start
moving back pull down swiftly and pop! Hello! I was out today and was
dropping "Vees" larger part of WD in iddle leading -hey this is a slack
line thing! Can't do it
Blah! Hell ya can't! Give it a shot chek with Dan at where they make the
critters.
I am sure he can tell you the same. OK Guy go out and enjoy that Windance
wonder who came up with that name ? It is definely a "Windance" always
moving around it -ya just can not stand there and let the wind domit for
you -unless it's
15 mph up. Later aer...@snip.net

The lighter lines and shorter lines will help so far, but your other idea
of buying an Ozone is even better. The lighter/shorter lines will be good
for the Ozone. I have flown mine indoors and outdoors from 0-15 mph. It is
my second most used kite next to my Illusion. The Ozone does tricks well
and does nice precision. I recommend it highly. Good luck and happy flying.

Flew the Ozone many times, since I was thinking of buying one.
But, I ended up buying the NikNak from Skyburner and like it
much better. It's wind range is 0-10 mph, but if it gets up to
7-10 mph, I get out a different kite anyway. Just my 2 cents.
