Hello, I was wondering if anyone had experience with the
kites manufactured by Cerf-Volants Azur in Montreal.
They are called Spyro-jet: Ultra-light, Freestyle, Aquilon;
Reflexx99 and Tandem .

I was thing of getting one, and was wondering how they compare
to other dual-line Deltas.

I recently got a chance to fly the tandem when one of the Spirojet folks
was in town. I feel it is worth the reported $350, less where I shop:-)
The kite looks like no other delta I am aware of. It has both stand offs
and battens and has the unique second small sail in front of the large main
sail. This is actually two kites on one spine. It uses "the advantage"
rods which, I think, are made by revolution. With all of the sail area,
you would think this thing would be a real puller. It isn't! It has a
medium to light pull. It also is not a wide aspect ratio kite like the
freeltyle. The aspect ratio resembles that of a spin off. The Bridle is
unique in that it can be turned into a quad bridle in about 30 seconds. I
have seen it flown quad by one of the guys on team Whats Up and he said he
realy liked it. He offered it to me but I refused because I didn't want to
break the thing.

My esperience is not vast, but it does fly better than anything I have
flown. The guys on the flight team, who have swithced to the tandem for
team flying, say it has a constant speed and it's not terribly fast which
are two things you look for in a team kite. I don't fly team much so I am
more interested in freestyle characteristics. I think turns were just
inside of the wingtip. Not being my kite, I didn't want to get too fancy,
still the kite did just whatever I wanted it to do. I am sold. They
should be in my local kite shop this January.

The guy from Spirojet also let me fly a freestyle. Winds were about 20mph
and it realy gave a good pull. The kite was quiet. Since it has a wide
aspect ratio and also, is a very flat kite, it is reportedly easy to yank
out of the sky. I didn't notice any of that however. I did walk away with
a nice impression of this kite. I doubt you will win any awards with the
thing but I can see it filling a nitch in my kike bag. I have not flown
any of their other kites. Spirojet man did say that the Aquilon was for
very, very strong winds. I guess there is some place in Canada where they
get WIND and it was designed for this place in mind. Hope this helps you.
