Sorry - I have been busy getting all excited about this stuff called AJAX
that Gmail uses. Could be good for the new rec.juggling interface.

Here's the vid ...

That was an absoloutely great video void!
Yet another great bungay vid packed with superb editing and some good
songs.
I especially like that guy who balanced the cane with the hat on his
chin, plopped it off into a foot balance, and oh so smoothly kicked (or
nudged?) The props back up to his chin.
Oh ,and looks like you all had a great time!

Nice one Void, well done. Anyone still looking for a reason to go to BBU
next year should check this out, there's at least 3,413 shown (no I'm
not listing them).

That'll be Grant Goldie. Top juggler, top chap and co-ran the very first
Bungay back in 1999 - http://www.tlmb.net/BBU/Louise/pages/page_6.html
(on the right). Lives in Northern Ireland now but has made the last 2
BBU's - doesn't get the prize for furthest travelled though - this is
between Azrelle and Ian (Glasgow) and Dawn (Canada, but admittedly she
didn't come over especially for Bungay).

One day (maybe 2008, maybe 2009) that title will go to me. I'd really
like to make the trip over from Australia. Still tossing up if the
trip'll find its focus around BJC or Bungay. But that's just details (and
hopefully it'll be both!).

Just feel relaxed watching it!! Lots of lovely quirky bits Voidy, very, very
fun to watch.
Wish I could have made it to more of it.

Good to see jungle jam again and watch Az get her hand mashed... OOOWW!! he
he he
..and nice to see Alice struggling with the stacking cups, because she
totally outclassed us at Jungle Jam... she is human after all and not a
robot ;)
I wanted to see more of those fire whips, Havn't seen much of them before.
The sequence of events knocking one on to the other was hilarious... what a
catch!! No trick photography there ;)
Now everyone has a crush on Grant, not just those of us who went.
Just like Bristol but without the stress... still laughing at that one ;)

This sort of quirky-funny-stuff-going-on-the-side video is a thing that
someone might like to do for BJC next year ;) cough ste3 cough now who
could do that I wonder cough void cough ;)

Cheers for that, Peachi
P.S. still got 2 clothes pegs in my van

Wow, cool, ace etc....

There's so many things on there that I don't remember however, and I
thought that I pretty much lived in the big top the whole convention.
Just goes to show you !

The only downside is that I've now remembered just how much I enjoyed it
and how rubbish life back in the real world is in comparison.

Oh well, another week down, only another 50 left to go =:-).

Indeed, that was a most enjoyable watch. I liked all the Rube-Goldberg
stuff and balls on powerdrills. I'm surprised to see so much juggling
going on, what with all the bits of wood to throw and watching that huge
lawnmower go at it. I was relaxed watching and listening...

What great memories that brings back

Puts onto film what all us us that have experienced bungay have been
through, one of the most relaxed videos I've seen.

Can't wait to see LP's footage too

Must have taken a while to make this though, how much footage did you get?

I don't know about void, but I'm currently grappling with over 220
clips, totalling about 10Gb of footage...

Hi everyone, thanks for all the nice comments, and ratings.

Colin, no need to apologise, I figured you had other things to think about.
FAK, sorry you weren't in it, maybe next time ;-)
Popstar - Yeah, come on over! Kel - Bad timing! :-)
Peachi - um, yeah, something will happen
Az - you've only yourself to blame
Darren - yes, that's the hectic blink-and-you'll-miss-it pace of Bungay,
lol
Plumsie - I had about 4h 15m of footage, including the show. I took
Jason's suggestion though, and watched it all, noting down on paper which
bits I was likely to use. I ended up capturing 10GB (about 45 minutes),
which I thought would mean a 30 minute video (DVD next year? ;-) ), but it
edited down nicely to 15.

One final end credit:
Cheers Charlie & Alex!

Another top BBU!

By 'lock down exposure', I presume you mean set it manually? You're
probably right, but when I'm having a chilled time in a field for 10 days,
grabbing my camera when I see something that I'd like to film, turning it
on, taking off the lens cap, opening LCD viewfinder, and framing the shot
each time, if I stopped to set manual exposure each time too, then I'd've
lost over 50% of my footage, I reckon.

OK, I probably should've set it for the show, but for the rest of the time
I never knew if my next shot was going to be in sun/shade/cloud, or in a
tent where the light coming through the roof was different from all four
directions, or there was a bright doorway in the background, or dusk was
drawing in during a fireshow etc etc....

Hmmmm, I've come across a bit defensive there, haven't I? lol.
OK, which bits specifically do you think were worst affected? I admit I
still have a lot to learn.

I noticed a lot of my footage had exposure problems as well. But then,
it's not exactly an environment that lends itself to consistent,
predictable lighting...

> OK, which bits specifically do you think were worst affected? I admit I

I suspect it's "any shot that starts off as mostly ground, and then ends
up with mostly sky" or vice versa. I know that's where i've noticed it
trying to rebalance itself and not going a very good job :-/

Mind you, a lot of my footage seems to suffer from other problems (lense
smudges, crappy autofocus not keeping up and me forgetting to turn it
off, that sort of thing) Things that I know *exactly* how to avoid, but
for some reason, didn't.

Nice Video. But next time can you not stretch it out to a wide screen aspect
ratio. I'll look better.

After reading Brian's comment I re-watched it with a critical eye, and to be
honest there was nothing that was *so* bad that it required that sort of
criticism. Sure some of the shots aren't perfect, but the light both inside
& outside the tent was changing so rapidly during most of the week that auto
exposure was probably your best bet anyhow. Also, it was Bungay; who can be
arsed with that sort of thing!
If you want to be really fussy with your footage, you've probably got tools
in your editing suite which will fix a lot of shots with a consistently bad
exposure, colour cast etc. In Premiere there is a filter called levels which
works in the same way as the levels command in Photoshop. I used the levels
command along with the saturation command quite extensively to enhance some
of my Bungay photos.

my dog was dead (dah dah dah dah).

When I first looked at the video I was just doing the 'ahh wasn't it all
lovely thing, and when I got to the end remember thinking the editing
wasn't great. BUT since then I've gone back with my video editors
critical head on and noticed loads of carefully put together bits and nice
touches. Having seen a few earlier Void efforts I'd say they are
definitely getting better and better.

Also, I can't even be arsed to get my stills camera out at events, so very
much appreciate the effort made by others.

Plus I can't quite imagine a really slick Bungay product - that's the
charm of it.

Big Hans? for over 15 years I've been hearing that as Big Hands.

I really liked the video, I'll really have to make the effor to turn up to
Bungay some time.

Way back when the third digit was an eight, home-taped cassettes were
'killing music', and girls with bass guitars went "...Ah!" when the riff
hit the break, my friend and I used to argue over whether it was Hands or
Hans. I can't remember which of us took which side, and suspect we may
have both changed our minds a time or two. A later purchase of the real
liquorice pizza pack revealed in the liner notes that Hans was mythical,
but he has retained that status for us both through the years.
