I've flashed 10 balls at that height a couple times.

Have you not tried at a higher height? Are you doing at this height
because you are comfortable with it. If not, I wouldn't recommend it.
Seems way too low to me.

Not even close.
At the Liverpool Juggling Convention a few years ago there was a
Renegade/after party in the cellar bar of the Everyman theatre, a room
singularly unsuited to juggling since it's ceiling is about seven and a
half feet from the floor. I know this because I found I could stand with
my feet flat on the floor, and at the same time reach up and place the
back of my hand flat on the ceiling. I am 5'11" tall. Luke Burrage was
there, and at that time was busy performing most of the acts in every
Renegade he went near. On that occasion he worked his way up the numbers,
flashing as he went. If I remember correctly he failed at the 10b flash
after a few attempts with 8 and 9 catches. I think he got the 9b flash
first or perhaps second time. Luke is around 6'2" or so, so his 9b flash
would have been about a foot above his head.
If that isn't bonkers enough, at the same event I saw Dave Kelly attempt
a 7b cascade ... lying flat on his back!

Semper eadem.
it is most comfortable at this height for me. i do everything low. the
main reason im failing is bacause my balls are too big and filled. i jus
let some filling out today and my 7 balls instantly improved.
Sounds very low. You will be able to flash it that low, but 9 balls will
run higher. If you want to run 9 one day, it's probably better to flash
them a bit higher, at the height they will run at. Also, how big are the
balls you are using? Smaller balls will lead to smaller, lower patterns.
I used to practice in my dorm room (ceiling 8-9 feet high) and could only
get 11 catches at most.
I only started getting runs (if you can call them that) when I went
outside and pretty much doubled the height of my pattern.
Good luck,
thatguy
I run seven balls near the same height as that and I use larger russian
balls so I prerer a higer pattern anyhow, but I'd still go quite a bit
higher for better runs.
A higher pattern will give you more time to think about what you're doing
and will also likely give you a better chance to feel the rhythm.
Good luck running it!
I'm aiming for a qualify eventually, but at the moment i'm just aiming for
a flash. When I started running 7 balls, i did it very low and as i have
progressed my pattern has heightened.
I''ll buy some numbers balls in january and i think it will make a big
difference.
Thanks for the comments

i heard luke burrage did 9 below head height once. it wasnt him who told
me though.
i know thats not what u asked but its interesting
to me

To be fair, Luke was competing against Ben Beever in that contest[1], and
as I remember it, they were kneeling down for the higher numbers, which
would probably put the total height of the flash (from hands to peaks)
in the region of 5ft at most.
I *think* that was the one where luke managed to flash 5 (or possibly 7?)
washing up sponges.

You could stop there and it would still work.

I don't remember the sponges, but we both managed 9 balls, and I think Ben
won with a 10 ball flash.
At an event at a similar time, a guy whose name I forgot was filming for
the
documentary "Completing the Circle" https://www.createspace.com/206361
which I must admit I've never seen. He pointed the camera at me and asked
a
question like "Why do you do numbers juggling?"
I said something like "It's fun in itself, and great training for speed
and
accuracy. If I can do nine balls this low ... just think how much that
improves
your three ball juggling."
Now, in that "..." I flashed 9 balls probably the lowest I've ever done
before or
since. Or that's how I remember it. I wasn't particularly trying very hard
to
catch all the balls, I was just making a point. I don't think it would
make the
final cut of the DVD, but that's probably the lowest 9 ball flash that I
did that
was caught on camera.
But it's true, I have done 9 ball flashes at or slightly below head
height. I
trained this a lot to build speed when working on 11.
Luke B.
I tell a lie, the sponges were "how many juggling convention passes can
you fit in your mouth" not how many you can juggle. Sorry.

Sounds about right.

I've seen it, although I lent my copy to someone who never returned it.
I'd chase them for it, but I can't remember who it was. I seem to remember
it being a pretty good documentary about the UK juggling scene at the time.
> I don't think it would make the final cut of the DVD
I'd check, if I still had my copy :-(
