Okay... go to a theatrical shop..... there is this stuff ( i forget the
name right now) it comes on wooden toungue depressors, It is great... a lot of
different colors. You wet the stick slighly and kind of brush it on with
gentle strokes. Make sure you put each one back in its own bag.
They alst a long time, they're cheap... and they are very easy to
layer. Do one color at a time and DO NOT use to much water... think of them
like water colors from when you were a kid... just enough water= thick and
easy... too much= thin and runny.
ALSO the best thing is that they hardly itch and you can clean up REAL
easy.... all you do is take some soap and lather up on your face... then rinse
off... SERIOUSLY.... they only trouble spot is you have to scrub a little
bit to get out of eyebrows and stuff,,, but this is still way easier than
grease paints.... especially that nasty clown white shit. LAther up and rinse
and wipe your face off (paper towels work well) and it is almost all gone... It
doesn't really run either unless you have it on for like 5 hours in August.

Alert the media! Terry Jones is alive! Aiiieeee!

Now then, where was I? Oh yes. Face painting.

The best way by far, IMO, is to use stage makeup. It's available in lots of
colors, is hypo-allergenic, and comes off fairly easily. However, it can be
expensive if you do a lot of heavy colorations (like, doing a side of a face
in blue, for example). Combined with clown white and simple blackface, your
selection of colors should give you a lot of freedom. There are probaby
others with more experience who can make cheaper suggestions, but that one's
mine. I also recommend Ben Nye if you decide to go w/a stage makeup mfr. I
have had the best results with them, over Bob Kelly, et. al.

For resources, I know there are books available on "face painting" as a topic.
You might also wish to spend some time perusing stage makeup books, as they
often have some of the theory and design data that face painting books don't
give. The best one I know of is _Stage Makeup_ by Richard Corson (now in
at least the 6th edition).

Good luck.
