time has come to post a new video. This time it's just one clip of one
trick, but it's sure worth it. Stefan doing the 7 ball siteswap db97531.
You can watch it over here:

Enjoy!

I'm off to fail miserably at 97531.

The thing is that the first three attempts shown in the video, especially
two and three, Stefan has a really nice pattern with the db97531. It looks
really clean and smooth, and he only drops afterwards when trying to
control the 7 ball pattern again. However, when he finally gets the
cascade solid again it is only from a really messy attempt at the trick.
To be honest I was more impressed with the cleaner trick and the drop
afterwards than the very messy trick to a clean finish. But that might
just be me.

On another note, I was telling my (non-juggling) friend that I juggled
a few months ago and he replied that he saw a really cool juggling
video on the internet and then he described some of the tricks... Now
that I've seen your videos, I'm pretty sure it was one of yours... Good
stuff!
Oh yeah and congratulations on the db97531... I thought only Dietz ever
managed that one!
Not any more! I've been trying it every now and again, my best effort has
been three throws afterwards, but I've told myself it's something I'll do
before I die... (maybe...)
Congrats!
Tom
Wow that's a massive trick - have you got any other videos, oh yeah I'm
sure someone said that there were like only 3 people who could do that
including deitz, maybe one of them was toto...
> You guys seem to be English, but you have French names... Where are you

Stefan and Yves are from Belgium

Ben Beever’s done it as well, as far as I know.

You can pretty much tell Stefan any siteswap that isn’t very complex and
he’ll get close on a couple of attempts, not only the ones that look good.
He happens to be very good at db97531-like sequences. For instance, at the
same convention (the Dutch), he managed 6 rounds of b97531, almost back
into the fountain.
Siteswaps, however, isn’t his main thing at this moment I think…
> How many times has he nailed it?
When this video was shot, he nailed it three times in something like 10
minutes. Dunno if he’s tried it afterwards…I remember telling him to pick
up an eighth ball, to go for the upgraded version, looked like he might at
some point be able to… Same for a 5up pir into db97531 (which he actually
almost got!!!)
> To be honest I was more impressed with the cleaner trick and the drop

Luke, I feel a bit the same, but the video, I seem to remember, doesn’t
show two other successful attempts that were a bit cleaner. Maybe I’m
mistaken, because he would have definitely put these on this vid. Stefan’s
pattern indeed is really clean, he gets close often. His pattern is lower
than Thomas’, because Thomas was at the Dutch as well, and told Stefan he
couldn’t do it due to the ‘low’ ceiling.
Really AMAZING !
It struck me that juggling pattern is alive really alive.
that pattern is like a huge whale diving into water after soaring up.

Ben Beever did it long before Dietz. Well done Stefan - I really need to
practice it more to finally get a clean one. Did you here that Ben did a
flash of fdb97531 at the BJC? I havn't asked him to confirm that he did
it. Can anyone else confirm it?
Peter
Nice work, Stefan. You make it look a little to easy. Isn't the collect
supposed to be the easy part of the trick? ;) Have Thomas done it with the
1 behind the back yet, I've heard that he attempted this at the wjf. Btw
his video with Manuel Mitasch concludes with a attempt at b97531 with the
1 btb, with clubs. Wow, Peter fdb97531, that's pretty mental, but I
wouldn't be suprised if Ben pulled that of.
NO THANKS ,

Very cool Stefan! That does look like a low ceiling, impressive. How
solid is your 7 ball pattern? What's your average run and record run
look like?
BTW, does anyone know if the b97531 run is on the net?
- Andrew
I have trick montage on my computer that begins with
STEFAN PARIDAEN
JUGGLING FOR 3 YEARS NOW
AND BACK FOR MORE...
and includes b97531 for 3 cycles and then back into the fountain (2:04
btw).
nope, the camera crew was not there yet when he did that (Stefan did not
bring his own camera, otherwise I would prolly've been filming it for
him). You could ask stefan whether he'd like to film it again...seeing him
do the 6 rounds...I'm sure that on a good day he can even do 6+ rounds of
b97531 soon.
Though I hear he's not practicing much lately.
Joost
well, the thing with this trick is that after it you're tired and it's not
aesy to continue the 7b pattern.
also i havn't been practicing much lately and my 7b have suffered..

well peter, this is my convention trick..
i only ever practiced it seriously at conventions
last convention i was close no i got it..
8b version is possible for sure!
i wont be the one to do it because i never practiced my 8 seriously but
maby at the next convention, who knows..
stefan
i'm right handed..
Maybe he thought you was a lefty, because you threw the d-throw with your
left hand, which can be due to that you can do the 31 much more
comfortable with the right hand starting, becuause that's the thing you
gotta fit underneath all those high throws. If you don't that fast enough
you won't be able to continue. I, on the other hand feel that "left
handed" (clockwise) showers are easier, so when I do 97531 (I suck so
much) I can use the best hand for both the highest throw and the zip.
I just realized that this might not make sense whatsoever for every one
else...
Erik
I get ya, just. My 2 cents (pretty much the same, but bigger)... he finds
b97531 pretty easy by the sounds of things. So throw up a d from your left
and then do your regular right handed b97531, makes sense to me.

I was watching him with crazy siteswaps and I didn't see him attempting
any of the 97531 type patterns, but there was probably other times he
could have done it. I think if he did I might have heard about it.
Nope, is not true (unfortunately..:o))
When I was learning 97531 (pfft... what am I talking about, I'm STILL
learning it!) I spent a lot of time with just four balls, doing
4444555507531555504444. This was due to a couple of reasons. Firstly, my
ceiling's only high enough to throw the 7, not a 9. Also it helped me to
get the 7531 consistant leading from my non dominant hand. I thought it
would be better to lead the 97531 with my dominant (right) hand because my
left throws are far less accurate on the 9s. practicing the 4 ball
version from 55550 allowed me to practice the much easier pattern 7531 but
will use the recovery into a cascade pattern. I don't know if it really
helped more than just trying 97531, but it allowed me to do some work on
it inside.
Cheers,
Dave
i got 6rounds of it on camera yesterday..
should be online someday soon maby
