An e-mail penpal of mine in Chile said he has heard a rumor
that performers from Cirque du Soleil will participate in either
the opening or closing ceremony of the Olympics. He would like
to know if this is true because if so, he would make an effort
to watch the appropriate ceremony.

Does anyone out there with ties to Cirque folks know if
this rumor is true?

Keep juggling!

P.S. Please answer me by e-mail in addition to posting
because my system's newsfeeder is so bad, the post might
not show on up my rec.juggling access until after the
opening ceremony. Thanks!

Well, seeing as I work a block away from the Centennial Olympic
Park juggling at a beer-garden, I felt it appropriate to find out. I had
heard that Cirque would be performing for AT&T and not for the
ceremonies. As it turns out I was correct : Cirque will be performing 2
portions of the _Quidam_ show on the AT&T mainstage in the Park on July 31,
August 1st and August 2nd at 8:30 PM. It is free and open to the public
though the good viewing areas are reserved for VIP's and athletes and
stuff. The person who told me this didn't know which acts or for how
long and said it may not even be definite but was pretty sure. She
happened to be one of the press credential checkers for the AT&T part of
the park.
And Georgia jugglers interested in meeting there one of those
nights? I am definitely getting off work to go see it at least one of
the three nights.

In reference to Cirque perfomances:

I live in Asheville NC. I am about four hours from Atlanta, and would
be interested in driving down to watch that. If there happened to be a
juggling meeting after the show to toss some clubs back and forth, that
would be an added bonus.

Keep me posted. Thanks.
