Buster was a friend to many in our community and a rec juggling member
He will be missed.

r.j is a distributed group and there are effectively no admins and no way
to retract posts once they have propagated to thousands or millions of
news servers worldwide. Colin E. could remove the post from the IJDb
portal but it would still reside on all other independent servers
worldwide. The cat is out of the bag.
More to the point, can someone provide a little context regarding Buster
and the manner of his/her passing? I am presuming that this thread is
entirely serious and that someone has died (I have no reason to doubt
this), and I guess it might be

Speaking from the bitter experience of losing someone close to me
recently I would like to respectfully request a little more information
for the benefit of readers of r.j and those who may have known Buster.
Rec.juggling is a place for many things, not least an obituary from
friends and peers.

Yes please do. Off the top of my head, I've known 3 jugglers who
go (or have gone) by the name of "Buster" - so a little context
would be welcome incase it's someone I know, or have known.

abit about Buster.
Buster recently lost his battle with depression and took his own life. He
was a well liked figure on the south west juggling scene and gave lots to
the community. He started the Yeovil juggling club a commited vegan he
made his own range of 100% natural juggling equipment
Mostly Ill remember buster as a big scary looking bloke with lots of
tattoo's who when you got to know him was a big gentle giant who always
had time for his friends.
My last memory of Buster was me waking him up at bristol and asking him
if he would like to donate a prize for the games. In true Buster style he
didn�t grumble about being woken up and donated a set of his monkey fist
balls and a beautiful set of hand made thuds that I hope somebody out
their is enjoying.
Bristol/BOB/Southern lights and especially Yeovil juggling club wont be
the same without him
A great juggler and more importantly a lovely man.

Thanks for the background. I don't think I remember ever meeting this
particular Buster[1], but it's always sad to hear about someone ending
their battle with depression in this way.
He sounds like a nice sort of a chap, and I feel for those who knew him
who have been left behind.
He's not the first juggler to battle depression and lose, unfortunately
he's unlikely to be the last.
There are however many jugglers winning their battles - if anyone reading
this thread suffers from depression (or has any other mental health issues)
at all, I hope you're seeking out the help and support you deserve.

Ah shit.
Buster was a lovely guy and he made me a great set of beanbags. I didn't
get much of a chance to sit and talk with him this year at Bristol, now I
regret it.
Maybe the lesson to take away from this is to value the time spent with
your friends when you can get it - you might not get the chance again.

The simplest thing is if I just updated the description for Buster to
include a
comment at the top of his profile description. Perhaps the Obituary
provided by

it was the same "Buster" I met, albeit briefly, in Yeovil library a couple
of years ago. I was using the computers there and happened to be on this
site. He came in, sat at the terminal next to me and I saw that he also
logged onto this site. As he finished, he told me he'd noticed I was on
this site, after which we obviously got into a conversation about
juggling, including siteswaps, clubs, 4 ball mills mess, and how much he
loved Falco's Falcore video. He then asked me if I was interested in
setting up* a juggling club in Yeovil. Of course I would have been, but
seeing as I didn't even live in the UK at that time**, this would have
been rather difficult! Anyway, after that, we spoke a bit more and then,
after 20 minutes or so, we said goodbye and went our separate ways. I left
with a big smile on my face having just met a really friendly person I
could talk to about juggling, which had never really happened before
(except when people took the piss!) and I just regretted the fact that my
circumstances meant I couldn't take him up on the offer.
Very sorry to hear this news.

meeting was about two years ago - did the club already exist then?!?

as a great shock. Buster was a fantastic bloke. By his own admission
he had led a 'colourful' life with many ups and downs. The last few
years he has got his life back on to a more even keel by capitalising
on his brilliant mind and spirit and living a simple, vegan
existence. Not only was he an accomplished juggler but had also
decided to make the most of his deep interest in Maths and also taken
up the deeply complex board game called Go (through which I met him).
The last time I saw Buster was on the 3rd December when he was
jubilant after beating me in a gruelling three hour game. His Go
expertise has come on hugely over the last twelve months helped
greatly by short sojourn at Penzance(?) Go club this summer, where he
honed his skills against dan players.
Buster was a very caring person, a deep thinking conversationalist, a
teller of very funny off-the -wall jokes and great company. But he
had his demons and his unresolved sadnesses and, it seems, they caught
him at a low point.
Buster you will be sorely missed and never forgotten - RIP mate.
