I'm trying to collect information on these two cartridges. If anyone
has any info on either of them I would really appreciate an e-mail.
Thanks!

585 Nyati: Means "Cape Buffalo" in several African languages. Round
developed by Ross Seyfried after he was charged by an elephant and fealt
his
450 Nitro Express was inadequate.....
Loading data that I have on the 585 shows velocity of 2525 fps and
muzzle energy of 10,625 ft-lbs with RL-15 powder (powder load left out
intentionally).
Unlike the double rifles that you normally see shooting the big Nitros,
the
Nyati can be built on any standard length Magnum Mauser bolt action and
holds
4 rounds (one in chamber and 3 in magazine).
Be forewarned, this baby kicks!! Somewhere on the order of 220 ft-lbs
of
recoil energy.
In comparison, a .30-06 will boot you with about 20-22 ft-lbs...the Nyati
kicks you 10-11 times
harder than the 06 does!! I read an article somewhere that says the Nyati
recoil is quite
literally on the edge of human body limits. This thing CAN cause injury
and break shoulder bones
of the shooter. Slight of stature, frail or generally small boned folks
need not apply....
The .5855 Nyati was formulated by Ross Seyfreid after a 4500 NE failed him on
an elephant. It can push a 750gr in excess of 2500 fps creating a ME of 10,500
fp. This can generate a recoil in excess of ten thimes that of a 30-06. Look
in Cartridges of the World Ed. 7 for more info.
