I just had a guy come into my shop telling me that he had killed a really
nice deer with a crossbow. I told him I didn't think it was a legal weapon
unless a person was handicapped. He told me he was able to hunt with one
because he had a felony against him, and couldn't carry a rifle, handgun,
or regular bow. Does this make any sense at all!!?? The guy can carry a
crossbow, but not a bow? Is this a new Texas law I haven't heard of?

In article <19961204200...@ladder01.news.aol.com>,

I can't tell from your post what part of the universe you are from,
but in Iowa, you must have a permanent physical condition, certified
by a physician that prevents you from being able to draw a bow of a
hunting weight to qualify for a permit to use a crossbow. However,
it wouldn't surprise me in the least to learn there are even more
incentives to break the law than might be imagined, in other states.

The short answer is: he was lying to you.

The long answer is: He was lying to you and you should call the game
warden if you know where the guy hunts (so that they can catch him next
time).
