I've just shot myself a decent 8 point buck and would like some
clarification on how to score it. I downloaded the official Boone and Crockett
scoring instructions and have followed them. I'm just not sure how to add the
spreads up. Do you add the tip to tip, inside, greatest, and spread credit all
together and then add these to the point and circumference measurements?
I did it the above mentioned way and got a score of 171 3/8. He
weighed 205 lbs. field dressed. He's also my first deer bow hunting.

Nice buck, Jim, but your score is too high. The only spread you count in
your gross score is the greatest inside spread. That's it. Tip to tip and
outside spread are just reference scores on the sheet, they're not added in.
Right, guys?

You are right about the tip to tip and the outside spread, Karp.
The inside spread may equal but not exeed the length of the longer
antler.
