I saw an announcement for some changes in the Utah hunting regs in the
paper Sunday that I thought I'd pass along.

Non-residents will now have to apply for all general tags through the
limited entry drawing. In years past, tags have been sold
over-the-counter, but that will not be the case this year. Praclamations
should be out around the 1st of May and the application period will run
from May 5th-25th. You can receive an application and proclamation in the
mail by calling DWR offices in SLC at (801) 538-4700.

General hunt dates are set as follows:
Buck archery---8/17-9/6
Buck rifle-----10/19-27
Buck muzzleldr-10/30-11/7
Archery elk----8/17-9/6
Rifle elk------10/9-17

Muzzleloader elk (either sex) usually runs in conjunction with the deer
muzzleloader season. Tags are available by limited draw. There were only
100 of these last year for non-residents. Cow elk season dates vary
according to unit and are given through the draw.

Another bothersome change for this year is the fact that credit cards (too
convenient) will no longer be accepted as a means of applying for you
permits. Use a cashier's check.

Good luck to all:

Roger
