I've tried painting a few times, but was never happy with the results. It
didn't look good and it wouldn't stay on. However, at the last Houston (TX)
Wildlife Expo (back in January), there was a booth with a product that was
basically a 4' wide roll of self-adhering tape - in a camo pattern. It was
specifically designed for things like boats, SUV's (?), and 4-wheelers. I
didn't buy any at the time because (a) I don't own a boat (b) it was a bit
pricey (~$20/roll?).
But when I get a new boat (later this summer?), I plan on using that stuff
rather than trying to paint it.
Of course, now I have to find the information on the stuff. Once I do, I'll
post it.

Good luck.
The last time I went after ducks (which was also the first time I went
after them...), a fellow driving just in front of us had what looked like a
terribly nicely-decorated boat. He'd taken the entire thing, and painted it
in a sort of camo decor, then taken a HUGE amount of reeds and other
water-growth, and attached to everything on the boat. The result was that
it looked like he had a little section of lake on his trailer. It certainly
looked like it would work to me. : )

Have fun.
