Front veiw, side view, above, behind??? Where are the vital areas to
shoot a deer? What other info on this topic can help me?

Thanks,
Jason

Go for the heart/lung area. From the side, just behind the front
shoulder. Frontal shot, right where the neck meets the chest. From
above, right between and behind the shoulder blades.

There are shots that will drop the deer quicker (e.g. brain or spine)
but they offer a smaller target and risk damaging meat or antlers. A
neck shot will do nicely, however, if it's offered. But a deer hit
in the boiler room (heart/lung) will expire quick enough.

Jason,
Personally, the standing broadside heart shot for me. Requires pretty
critical placement though, and it's not 'offered' often. You tend to pass
a few if waiting for that shot. However, they generally don't go far (and
most often, don't go at all). There are several lethal shots and just as
many opinions. That's mine.
There was a post here referencing a site where you could get tracking info.
on deer with differently placed shots. I thought I bookmarked it. Guess
not. Anybody have it? It would be pretty interesting for a new hunter.

Good luck Jason, be safe,
Stephen

Jason,

Shot placement depends also on the type of weapon you're using. For
archery hunting, the only "high percentage" shot is broadside or
quartering away. If you really don't know the proper shot placement on
a whitetail deer, then I'd strongly suggest a hunters safety or
bowhunter education course before entering the woods with a weapon.
wildlife deserves better.

Happy Hunting, Gary

Imagine a volley ball inside the front part of his chest. Aim for the
center of the volley ball from any angle, except from behind.
