Why not try short marks....Holding her collar with one hand - get her excited with your happy voice and if you feel any pull...let her go. This may happen while the bird is still in the air. The excitement of your voice will help turn her on. The bird being a moving target also excites the dog. They love to chase moving targets. And holding her back
(opposition reflex) will get her to pull forward.
