The little devil is now 13 weeks and never have there been a yellow labpu=
p
more promicing than him... (okay, at least not in our household :-) Today
he fetched a ball 4 times and everytime he sat on command and delivered i=
n
hand! I must admit that he was not steady though :-)

I wonder if i can get this become a neat habit, if i time his training
right and sees so that he does it right most of the times out of free wil=
l
it should be possible. The thing is that he is rather relucant to let his
catch go and therefore he keep it in his mouth even if i tells him to sit.
Then i can cuddle and pet him and tell him what a good boy he is and whe=
n
it seems as i can take his catch from him (without him thinking me rude :=
-)
i tells him give and gently takes it from him.

As he is so fond of his catches I work alot on learning him that coming =
to
me with his dummies are the best and funniest thing to do and that if he =
do
i wont just snatch his precious things from him and make a end to all the
fun he has. I dont train with birds though, he goes nuts when he smells
birds...

I had some frozen ones out for thawing for my older lab some days ago an=
d
forgot that they where there and suddenly the little devil where running
around the yard with a crow. Do i have to say that that one where NOT
delivered too freely? :-) I had to bring out what cleverness i had to mak=
e
him come to me and believe me, it took some time and i had to give him a
feather in exchange so that he would feel at least a little satisfied. He
was not fooled though and kept clinging on me for half an hour, he must
have thought that i had stuffed the darn crow in a pocket or something...

Otherwise he have been with me out training with a friend and her dog and
he have heard som shots from a little distance (wich he didnt even seemed
to notice) I want him to get used to sit in the car alone and wait as wel=
l
as being out seeing other dogs work and still be calm. The last part is
hard to train alone as long as he is not steady and have learned to stay
put where i place him. I=B4ll write more later on but would love to hear =
how
other train their puppies as well.

And to all you newbies to the list that complaines about the fact that yo=
u
want to read about dogtraining and sutch... i can understand if all this
talk about Derry feels boring too you but one thing you need to understan=
d
is that YOU are the list as well as we are. Want to talk about dogs? Just
DO IT! I am yet to see little more than complains from you (fair complain=
s
thats true) so please join in and contribute and you will soon have start=
ed
more interesting threads.
