Truely, I am sure there are plenty of tacky and tasteless people
who watch this board who appreciate that trash. I mean considering the
jokes (and sometimes not even close to jokes) that are posted (e.g. that
joke a bit back about the sexual barometer) you can always expect a few
loons to step forward and protect their favorite trash.

First, what is being rapped to music?
Also, what is a "setch"?

None taken, I'm sure, since it doesn't exist :-)

Alright...

------======****** F L A M E O N ! ******======------

I've never flamed anyone before, but this warrants it. What an
incredibly stupid and mindless waste of everyone's time this post is.
What a calculated and deliberate attempt to start a flame war over
_nothing_ which can achieve _nothing whatsoever_ but will waste lots of
bandwidth, force people to sort through the flames, and make the whole
atmosphere of the net worse.

Nothing useful can come of a debate about how good rap is. Nothing
useful can come of slagging off someone else's tastes. Only harm can
come of insulting people on account of their taste. Only egotism run
wild can motivate such an attack. Only stupidity beyond cure can
inhibit the mechanisms which normally restrain one from posting
something which is nothing but inflammatory.

Get off this net for about a month and think about what you've done:
you're a disgrace to it.

And before you reach for the 'f' key, I have already anticipated your
mindless reply of personal insults. Don't bother - flames will be
answered with napalm.

Poor baby! :(

Flame Virgin warning!!!!!! It was funny so I posted it! Remember
thats what rec.humor and rec.humor.d are for? The post was not ment
to start a flame war, but if its going to happen let it happen!
I also don't feel sorry for a rising flame war or wasting
lots of bandwidth.

*This* is an example of Rap?? It reminds me more of that Alice Cooper

Which reminds me of so-called POLITICAL rap. As in guys like Public
Enemy, suppliers to the world of an update to the Horst Wessel Song.
Here's something I concocted during lunch one day three years back,
while the brain-dead one was still President: I've updated it.

We're the Public Enemy and we're here to say
That the Presi-den-cy is a heartbeat away!
Ol' Georgie can't raise it, so Barbara do tell,
So when I get into the race
I'm gonna give 'em hell!

(GRUNT. WHEEZE. GRUNT. WHEEZE.)

I'm declarin' today for the Pres-i-dential race
An' I'm runnin' real hard, never runnin' in place,
An' if you don' vote for me to win that race
I'm gonna come out to your house
An' bust your mudda*$*#in' face!

Ah (c)rappers with gun, aka thugs, chasing after people
that don't listen to (c)rap. What is the mentality of
these people?

What do you mean, rap is crap? It's wonderful! Rap 'artists' can do anything.
They can invent new words! They can rhyme any two words together, like
'uungh' and '[grunt]'... And their vocabulary... so expansive ... 'fuck shit
fuck shit mutthafuckin [grunt]'.
My personal favorite, by L.L.Cool.J [what a totally radical dude he is (HA!)]:

Tina got a big ol' butt.
I promised I'd be true,
But Tina gotta bug ol' butt.
Daz why I'm leevin' yuu.

How profound, Wizard!

Errr, ummm.. I'm afraid so...

See, they haven't quite expanded to:

rap is crap
rap is crap
rap is crap
rap is crap
rap is crap

It's terribly disappointing, isn't it.

I think your talents are wasted on being a music critic -- you should try your
hand at more rhymes. Man, you are the freshest!!!

(How about slippin' a rhyme in that .sig of yours - you know, with BIG letters?)

Stay cool,

Well, I'm pretty neutral to rap. It's good to dance to, and
some preformers I like better than others, Like Bobby Brown.
The only main objection I have to rap is the language. I'm
a youth counselor at church, and most of the teens listen to
rap. Most of the stuff that they listen to has disgusting
language, but a fun beat. My question is this: do all rap
groups resort to m****** f***** and s*** etc., as nouns, pronouns,
verbs, adjectives....?

Please don't flame. I'm not trying to stir up trouble, or insult
anyone. But I really am curious as to whether such language is in
all rap. Again, don't tear me apart simply because I'm asking a
question...

Could we take this to e-mail, guys? It seems like there are just
a couple people that are hanging on to this discussion.
I'm sure it would be appreciated by all. Thanks! :-)

I'm tired of this grabasstic crock of amphibian goose shit!!
Don't you asswipes know that Rap AND Metal are for the most part
nothing but adolescent rebellion against the parents that should
have aborted the sorry pieces of shit that love this stuff in the
first place, instead of giving you money and a place to stay while you
learn to be sorry parasites on society with no hope of ever matching
the success level that your hated parents achieved??????
Sheeesh, I used to think abortion was wrong, but now I wish we could
make it retroactive.

Hey, I agree with you that "rap" is crap, but evidentally there are those
out there that like it. No need to drag out this thread, is there?

After all...

I don't understand this discussion. I've always considered rap to be something
separate from music; something between rhyming and music; a totally new form
of expression. I would think rappers would not like to be lumped with other
musicians; but then, I always wanted to start something new.

I like music in general - haven't really found any rap that I care for
personally. Still, it's an expression of feelings and a way to
distribute those feelings to others - like art, dance, and so on.

Rap is a little like sushi - some people like it, some don't; if you try it
two or three times and you still don't like it, you probably never will -
but at least you _tried_.

To the person asking if there are any rap groups who do not use abusive
language....

You might like "Young MC" or "DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince". I
haven't heard them use any offensive language yet.
