How about the famous Salty Brine who was the morning man for something
like 30 years at WPRO in Providence, Rhode Island.
In the mid seventies there was a well known Jock who worked several
markets who went by the name of Sam Francisco. (There were probably
Sam Diegos, too.)
WNBC had Radio City Bill in the 70's. I think it was actually Bill
Rock (no doubt another pseudonym) who was the assistant PD.
One of the hottest Radio Personalities in the U-S right now goes by
the name of The Greaseman (Doug Tracht). I think he's still in
Washington, D.C.
Check out the Vox Jox column in Billboard Magazine. You'll no doubt
find a few in there.

Speaking of names, here's a little anecdote from my early radio days.
We received a new record by a female country singer whose name was
Mavis Crewes. (Say it quickly). Our PD/GM decided it was a little racy
for our rural audience. He scratched out her last name and she became
Mavis Davis. Never heard of her after that first release.

In the early 80's there was a DJ for WRNO in New Orleans who called
himself Scoot. His radio show was Scoot in the Morning. He was so
funny he did a special for MTV and is was snatched up by a California
radio station.

In Chicago we have a "Classic Rock" station that has a DJ named -UNCLE AL
YOUR INTERGALACTIC PAL- who has a show called "THE PHYSCADELIC SUPPER" (sp?)
with tunes from the sixties and early seventies played at diner time.

An FM station in San Jose (KSJO I think) had an EXTREMELY offensve
DJ named (appropriately) Dennis Erectus. He blatantly insulted his
listeners, and they loved it. Well, that's San Jose!

Hmmm...

In commercial radio, we have:

. The "Rock Lobster," who just moved to KUFX's morning show
. Weatherman "Storm Kennedy" on KARA
. KUFX weekender "Grateful Don" (guess what his favorite band is?)
. Traffic reporters "Lois Lane" (K101) and "Della Street" (KSOL)
. Traffic reporter-turned-DJ "Lisa Carr" (KITS)

In non-commercial, the list is long and constantly changing. One
local college station, KFJC, used to keep a list of "approved air
names" for people who didn't want to use their real name, but who
didn't feel creative (using your real name at KFJC is considered
rather nerdly to do unless you've got a really weird name). Air names
there have included:

. Cliff Notes (used during finals -- when else?)
. Ilsa the Castrator
. Hari Kari
. Kitty Litter
. Dominic Trix
. Belladonna
. Warren Court
. Phil Dirt

WGIR in Manchester, NH has a few odd ones:
Shred - he's a morning DJ
Brandy St. Bernard - she's a ski conditions reporter
Gretchen Von Kruschka - formerly "Mistress of the Night", now
just Gretchen, since she got married
and had a kid.

WBCN in Boston has:
Duane Glasscock - just another raunchy BCN DJ
Oedipeus - host of BCN's "Nocturnal Emissions" show

Don't forget the modern rock update person for KITS: Audia-Videa
(I may have mispelled her "name" but you get the idea)

Close. The station is KOME (already makes more sense, huh?). Actually, he's
still there, or more appropriately, he's back. A few years back he had a bit
on his show entitled "Celebrity Gangbang - Starring Nancy Reagan." I heard one
of these segments where the show's "guest" was Bonzo. You get the idea.

Here in the Nation's Capital [tm], DC101 has a female overnight DJ
named 'Erin Space'. Like the museum. Think about it.

I seem to vaguely remember a story that radio station KOME, in their
ID, said "Don't touch that dial....you've got KOME on your radio!"

One can still see bumper stickers on the VW microbuses of die-hard
rocksters in Silly Conehead Valley that read

"I KOME while I drive"

Rock and roll, indeed... maybe that's why the traffic's so sticky.

Yeah, another station ID called it "the KOME spot on your FM dial".

Seems like they had a DJ (at least 10 years ago) named Dennis Erectus, or
something like that. He was a self-declared candidate for President in 1980,
and had campaign T-shirts and bumper stickers that read, "Dennis Erectus-- a
hard man to beat." He eventually got kicked off of the air.

Dennis is alive and well on KOME, at least he was last year. He routinely
had his "mother" on the air and advertised that the caller who made the
most obscene proposition to her would get the dubious honor of doing her
on the air!!!
