When I was 10 years old or so, my two favorites were:
"Under the Grandstand" by Seymour Butts
and
"The Yellow Stream" by I.P. Daily
They're *still* my two favorites. Good reading, too!

Has anyone ever heard a song called something like "Blood on the saddle"? <-haha
about a guy whose horse had sat on him and "maished in his haid"
(it was a western kind of song. my dad had it on an album)
went something like this:
"There was... blood on the saddle...
there was... blood all around
and a biiiig rrrred PHHuddle
of blood on the ground..."

The cowboy lay in it, all covered in gore,
and he won't go ridin' his cow-horse no more.
Oph, pity the cowboy,
all bloody and red,
his horse fell on him and bashed in his head.
(repeat first verse).
I really don't know why this tune stuck in my head. I learned it in
grade 4. Funny how I can remember that from all thos years ago, but
can't seem to remember what my profs tell me from yesterday...
