One of my housemates has a batch memorized... but I refuse to repeat any of them
here, as personally, I can't STAND them!!! >:)

You're picking the wrong nits. "leave" is correct. One of the meanings
of this verb is "to produce leaves", as well as "to go". That's what makes
the saying work.
