I really wished they won.
I really did not even want Austria to draw (I am getting really sick
of them winning - plus, I don't like Steve Waugh (or any other
sprouting "hero"))
Terribly selfish of them to just get beyond the point of follow-on -
they sure would have not been able to pull a draw off then.

If Austria is going to be brought into the cricket-playing fold, shouldn't
they start off with an easy opponent like, say, NZ <GD&R>

Pity Steve Waugh's men didn't try to go for it more, hey? ;-) Still far
exceeded the 4-0 trashing I was expecting. Very happy with the overall
series result. Would have been better if it were 2-1.

Me too.
Sid, called in sick when he found out the last day was being telecast
on local tv. :-p

Warne? No?

They didn't. Ganguly elected not to put them back in. Which I thought
was a good move.

Yeah. This wicket was as dead as any can get.
Sid

Be reasonable, Richard. I think that almost all guys can't bowl as hard
in the second innings.

Yep.

Heh. I took my Canadian F-in-L to the second day (Saturday). He was
grateful that 85% of the entertainment at a Test Match is not on the field,
because until the last 45 minutes it looked as though there might be an
entire day's play without a wicket falling. And they weren't batting fast,
either.
At least I actually saw both wickets fall and I caught a glimpse of the beer
wench who was ejected/thrown out because she kept ejecting/throwing out bits
of herself to the crowd...

I can take or leave that, but it's the arrogance of those like Lee and
McGrath that gets me - and the commentators are worse.

He's so brilliant at cricket but so stupid at everything else. Kind of an
athletic version of an idiot savant.

I didn't like it - why even *risk* not being able to bat again? I'd have
put 'em back and humiliated them.

Then it's surprising India could even play on it, isn't it? >;-D>

McGrath at least has (had?) cause to be arrogant. Lee giving away 200
runs and then pumping his fists when he gets a tailender is just
hilarious.

That remark was very much tongue in cheek.

The way Indian bowlers not named Kumble were bowling, it could have been
much worse. I think the break did at least Karthik a load of good. Still
bowled pretty unimaginitive stuff. But, at least it wasn't tripe.

No, just that Lee got any wickets at all. :-)

A beer wench? You mean like this one?

Almost exactly like that one. More of a brunette, slightly more
athletic build and somewhat less of a wedgie going on in the
short-shorts department.
But otherwise identical.

Oh, I'm sure your friend/lover/brother/husband Tolly showed you much
worse at the Lower Nile Chariot Racing and Hyskos-beheading Carnival
in BCE 48.
