Recently, when sending a package at our
local mailing store, the clerk offered to
highlight the UPS tracking code. Although
the highlighter color was yellow, there is
apparently some chemical reaction
between the ink and the paper used for
the receipts such that the highlighted area
became totally black (and quite wrinkled).

This reminds me of the people who get in the supermarket express (10 Items)
with a wagon full of groceries. One cashier in my favorite market waves them
away from her register. "Either they can't read or they can't count," she
says.

So my idea to put cable T.V. in cars must be a pretty good idea then? <G>

The apocryphal story is about the (former) Star Market on Mass Ave in
Central Square, Cambridge MA. FOr those who don't know, this is between
Harvard and MIT. Supposedly a college-age kid gets into the express lane
with too many items. The cashier says "I don't know if you're from
Harvard and can't count, or MIT and can't read."

And then there is the story of the two men who meet at a cocktail party,

know?" "Easy," says the first. "I could see tell it from your very refined
and distinguished bearing and manners."
After a moment, the second man looks at the first, and say, "You are
from MIT, are you not?" The first man is astonished, and says, "Yes, but
how did you know?" The Harvard man replies, "I saw your class ring while
you were picking your nose."

For the record, I have a Master's Degree (Electrical Engineering) from
MIT - but no class ring.

On the other hand:

Two men meet in a public toilet in Milwaukee Wisconsin.

As the first man leaves the second one says : "At Marquette University
they teach us to wash our hands after we urinate"

The first man replies: "At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee they
teach us not to pee on our hands."

(Marquette is a private school and UWM is a pubic university)

Reminds me of this one:
Two men are standing at urinals relieving themselves. They finish and
one starts to leave the room while the other steps to the sink and
remarks to the first "At Havard we were taught to wash our hands after
urinating." The first replies to the second "And at CCNY we were taught
not to piss on our hands."

And Marquette has a serious group ego, as evidenced by their rally
cry at sports events: "WE ARE MARQUETTE" - and that's all.
