Heard about the Frenchman who thought deceased Jews were taken by the holy
goats?

I'll ask my son (13 yrs old and very up on the quicktake) when he gets home
from school... unless you help me out beforehand...

You were almost there:

French for goat = chevre (pronounced shevra)

Hebrew for company, society, brotherhood, when transliterated with Ashkenazi
spelling = chevra (pronounced Hevra)

Synagogue burial society = Chevra Kaddisha (lit. Holy Brotherhood) = holy
goats

Most French people are Catholic and would think of the Father, Son and Holy
Goats

Hag sameach,
