mascle= a lozenge perforated or voided so that the field appears through
the opening.
Lozenge= a parallel with equal sides, forming two acute and two obtuse
angles.
[In other words, diamond shaped and standing on point]
The Lowells of Mass. bear Sable, a hand couped at the wrist holding
three darts, one per pale and two per saltire argent. (The source
I have says "Worcester, confirmed 1573", so these would presumably
be original arms from England).
