Hi Steve,

The FT-900/AT is very under-rated. It's small, rugged, and you can
usually get them for around $500 used. Probably the best receiver of
any transceiver I've ever owned (non-DSP). Does everything you will
ever want. Antenna tuner matches up to 3:1 or so.

If you want to operate CW, you should look for one with the CW filter.
