Hi all,  the last FEW battery packs and inserts I have purchased
within the last year from W&W battery seem not to be cracked up to their
usual high standards.  About  8 months ago I ordered a battery insert for an
Alinco DJ-580T.  W&W says that they use Sanyo or Panasonic cells.  If other brands
are used they will say so.  Anyway, when I received the insert they were green
batteries with no brand name on them.  They didn't say Sanyo or Panasonic like they
said in the past.  Also the batteries had 1100 stamped into each battery.  The W&W sticker
says 12V @ 1200.  I called them at the time and was told don't worry about the 1100, it means
nothing.  I said to myself ??? !!!
I few months earlier I purchased a NI-Cad pack for my FT-50.  I can't see into it but it never took a full charge, even
after a few weeks of proper cycling.
I have a buddy who has this expensive battery analyzer where he works, I'm told the charger is a professional
charger and costs around $3500 dollars, its gotta be some gizmo.   Anyway, It did not perform well.   I called
W&W and told them and they replaced the pack, which is a great thing for them to do in the name of customer relations.
The one they sent me performed the same.   About 3 months ago I needed another pack for the FT-50 because the second
NiCad pack went bad.
I pickup up a NiMH battery this time at the local hamfest.  This battery is the same deal.  Never
gets a full charge.  I have used W&W fast charger, my Yeasu charger and a MaHa charger on these
batteries.  After I use them for many cycles it is the same.  My buddy put this one on his
expensive analyzer and the best it will do is 70 percent.  WHAT GIVES????  This is a 9.6V @1100MaH and
it acts like a 600ma nicad.  I use these HT's to receive 98% of the time since they are used mostly at work.
I have the same damn problem with a pack for my FT-530.
I have been very happy with W&W over the last 15 or so years.  I don't know what is going on other than
using cheaper batteries and charging for the higher priced good batteries.
BTW,  that Alinco battery insert does not hold a great charge and has a cell going bad.  My batteries usually
last for about 2 years or so.  Not any of these.  I have had many HT's over the years and I'm knowable of batteries
and the different types and charging habits.  If I only had one charger I'd suspect that, but with all the chargers I own
and with my buddys charger at work, I know it's not me or my equipment, it's the batteries.
Any comments from people finding the same results??

Hi all, BLAH BLAH BLAH.......

Try buying a real **OEM** QUALITY battery!!! Yeah I know it costs a little more, but money is not everything.....
The differance in price is minimal, compared to the lack of service...save your bucks a little longer and get the GOOD battery.

I buy ALL my batteries for my Motorola equipment FROM MOTOROLA.......just for that reason.....cheap is cheap.....price quality and performance...I want/need and use a good battery when i'm away from my vehicle or in the field for extended hours...NO W&W batteries for me, also stay away from "Alexander" as they are shit too.

I do not any more; Motorola seems to use whatever cells are available
on the market, while aftermarket suppliers often use Sanyo cells -
these batteries are cheaper, and at least the same quality as the
original ones, often better.
