It's old and out of production, I'll tell you that much... but probably
still supported by Leupold. They'll check-out and recharge (with dry
nitrogen gas) any scope more modern than the oldest named models, no
charge.
I would send it in, get it back, mount it up and use it!

Charles Winter is correct-you should write or email Leupold. I owned a M7 3X
for a short while and contacted Leupold. They told me that the M7 series
preceeded the M8 and did not feature the Leupold Golden Ring as that was
introduced with the M8. They also told me the scope I bought had been returned
to the factory for overhaul and the optices had been upgraded to current
standard.

Their customer service is amazing. I had to return a scope to them,
twice, and each time they got it back in my hands a WEEK after I mailed
it! that's counting mailing, both ways. Granted, I live in the same
state as them, but still... pretty good.
Burris has had a scope of mine for over 3 weeks and counting...
