Also, maybe you could elaborate on the reasoning behind the weapons
selection since they are not carrying FBI standard issue weapons
which is generally frowned upon in the FBI (especially for low level
Special Agents...?)
Thank you for taking the time to answer this question for me. I and
about 200 others really appreciate your time.

Pretty easy, since I like the show, and I like guns.
Glock 17 for Mulder. He has a nice leather holster.
Walther PPK for Scully. (blue, w/wooden grips, could be a PPK/S, not
sure of the PPK variations and what distinguishes them)

The PPK is a smaller weapon, so it would be appropriate for Scully,
however I note how easily she often racks the slide, and on a "real" PPK
I know that it is quite a bit more difficult...
The Glock is becoming a very popular TV weapon (the guy on Viper used
it, too, it was tricked out with a laser sight etc.).
I didn't see the question in the x-files group.

I doubt the producers of a TV show are reading rec.guns, but I'll try and
answer your question. Agent Mulder carrys some typoe of Glock-looks like
a 9mm (based on the size of the hole in the barrel. Scully (on a sidenote-
quite a babe) carrys a Walther PP or PPK (I can't tell), but I've seen her
carrying something else on an episode or two.
The FBI is allowed to carry personal weapons, if they can show a personal
improvement over an issued weapon, but they must qualify with an issued weapon.
As for caliber, I don't know if they can carry anything different than 10mm
or .40 S&W (which they are currently switching to).
Up the Irons!!

Glocks. Might be Glock 17's, although I haven't got a close enough view
to be sure.
