I'm fixing up an old family heirloom. This rifle means allot to my son.
His grandfather, my father, left it to him when he passed away. My Dad
got it as a teen for a Christmas present from his Dad, then shortly
thereafter his Dad was killed in an accident. I'm guessing it to be
right around 55 years old. The old thing sure is accurate, and has a
beautiful bore. Well worth fixing up. My Son got a kick out of shooting
it the other day. He was consistently hitting a 10 inch steel plate at
100 yards with it using open sights, from a bench rest, but hey, that's
not too bad.

25 years ago, I could hit the nail holding the target at 100' with
peep sights in the front and rear.
Now days one of those old Remington 22s will start out at $150 and go
up.
They are nice rifles, but not worth that much.
But if I were repairing a family heirloom, I would bite the bullet and
buy one for parts.
