In this post, the following statement is made:
"Gunsmiths can work on the AMT backup pistols to lighten the
trigger a bit with polishing, mounting very low profile sights,
improving feed reliability, etc. The only quality gunsmith doing this
kind of work that I know of at this time is:
John Jardine

He generally has a huge backlog and may not accept new orders for
periods of time. If anyone else does this kind of quality work, please
send email to have your name added to this list."
I would indeed like to be added to this list of those who do this
quality of work; especially concerning the AMT "back up" series.
Matter of fact, I have just repaired an AMT .45 Back Up which would
not feed, the barrel near the chamber had been rounded off at the
throat (nearly to the point of the chamber-throat), inner portion of
the slide above the barrel had been "hogged-out" (and would lock up on
the rounded barrel, and was so poorly machined that it even had to be
cycled by hand in order to complete the slide's full range of motion.
In addition, I was able to polish internal components in order to
reduce drag and lighten the trigger pull signifigantly.
If you would like more information to add me to the list, please feel
free to contact me via
