I searched the web, and couldn't find anything on the 303, although
there's a few sites that mention the 311 model. Any idea of what the
value of this gun is?
Email is appreciated, as I don't get on Usenet very often....

I purchased a Haenel Modell 303-Super made by Suhl of East Germany
back in 1987. It is a .177 mm pellet rifle that uses the barrel as
the cocking lever. It has a protected front sight and the rear sight
is a detachable micro-sight with windage and elevation fine
adjustments. It also has an adjustable trigger. The wood is a light
brown, heavy, but not fancy. The rifle is both powerful and extremely
accurate.
I paid 398 East German Marks in East Berlin, and at that time the
dollar to East German Mark rate was 7-to-1, so about $56 American
dollars. However, the gaint West German Franconia (spelling might be
off) sports chain was selling the same air rifle in West Germany for
DM 360 or about $238 US Dollars in their 1987 catalog. I have not
seen either a Beeman or RWS imported air rifle that matched exactly.
One caution, the 303-Super is powerful and should only be fired using
the same precautions as a firearm. Only children that have had good
training and demonstrate firearms disciple should be allowed to use
this pellet rifle.
