I did some horsetrading, and in the deal, recieved about 50 rounds of
44spl.
The box was labeled "240gr LRN 5.3gr Green Dot".
I can't find this load in any of my books.
Anyone ever ran acrossed stats for it?
Feels about like a factory 246gr lead load.
Shoots wonderfully. Very accurate.

My 1995 Alliant guide shows 44 special with green dot, 246 lead round
nose at 4.5 min and 6.5 as max. Velocity listed as 765 and 910. I
personally prefer to use Bullesye in my 44 spec loads but as the
saying goes "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". If you and your
revolver get good results with it, might as well continue with it.

Alliant publishes a recipe using Green Dot and a 246 gr LRN bullet.
You can find the load data here:

http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/RecipeDetail.aspx?title=Pistols%20and%20Revolvers&gtypeid=1&weight=246&shellid=1025&bulletid=81

Good luck.

Speer Reloading Manual 11 shows a Green Dot load for .44 Spl. 240gr SWC 5.2 - 5.7gr.

My 12 or so manuals span 37 years, going back to 1970, and Speer #11 (1987) is the only one showing Green Dot with .44Spl.

Well, I DID look around for info before I posted here. Now I don't
feel so bad!!
Thanks for all the input!
This is a really good shootin' load in both 4" 629, and 71/2" Scoped
S.Redhawk.

I've tried Greendot in a number of handgun load, including .44 magnum.
Never had any success is achieving best accuracy. Maybe that's why its
seldom mentioned as a handgun powder. - CW

Maybe. Never seen a load before these came along.
Ive all but shot them all up, but I was able to get down to 4" groups
at 50yds.
Thats freehand off of a rolled up jacket. And that aint' bad for me.
